A newborn baby was allegedly abducted from a hospital in Bihar's Begusarai district just 20 hours after birth, authorities reported on Sunday. CCTV footage capturing the incident has since been shared on social media.
The footage shows an elderly woman entering the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Begusarai’s Sadar Hospital. She is seen wrapping the baby boy in cloth and leaving the premises unnoticed.
According to officials, the baby was born to Nandini Devi , a resident of Lohia Nagar, at 10:30 PM on Saturday.
The child's disappearance was discovered when the family visited the hospital on Sunday at around 7 PM. The father, who last saw the newborn at 2 PM, rushed to the hospital after being informed by his wife that the nurse had not returned the baby.
Commenting on the situation, Civil Surgeon Dr. Pramod Kumar Singh said, "Due to the number of people entering the premises, it's difficult to distinguish the baby’s mother from other visitors."
Hospital staff have been unable to provide an explanation for how the baby went missing. The theft came to light only after authorities reviewed the CCTV footage.

Why is there no #hospital staff in the #children’s ward to take care of and monitor them?
