Chikkamagaluru: Army Major MS Sumukh urged youths to serve the nation and suggested joining the Army. He said training in the Indian Army brings out the real ability of individuals.

He was speaking after receiving a felicitation by the Lions Club of Koppa-Sahyadri for his service in Manipur during communal violence.

Maj Sumukh, sharing his experience in Manipur, said there is a brotherly relationship among soldiers in the Indian Army. "My team members protected me several times, risking their lives and no other profession will have this rapport," he said.

According to Maj Sumukh, the training programme in the Indian Army is the best and it brings out the real ability of individuals. "I have worked in extreme weather conditions, and it is only because of the training we can perform. We face severe hardship during training, but we come to know our ability only after the completion of the training programme," he said.

KK Shivaraj, appreciating Maj Sumukh, said he hails from a farmer's family and he has been serving the nation at the forefront. "It is a pride for our village," he said.

Lions regional chairman Gopalgowda said that since his school days, Maj Sumukh was interested in serving the nation.

Lions Clubs of Koppa-Sahyadri president DN Jayanth, secretary Santosh, Sumukh's parents Shamanna and Dakshayani, and wife Deepika were present.
