Send Push

Mangaluru: Julie, a Labrador who served in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Mangaluru International Airport, has officially retired after 8 years of dedicated service.

Dogs in service are retired when they gradually lose their sensitivity due to prolonged stress, ensuring that no excessive burden is placed on them. Julie joined the force on March 26, 2013, and following her retirement, Rio, a new recruit, has replaced her.

In a heartwarming ceremony, CISF personnel adorned Julie with garlands, cut a cake, and gave her a fond farewell by placing her in a flower-decorated cart, which they collectively pulled as a mark of respect.

Adopted by Her Handler

Following her retirement, Julie was adopted by her handler, CISF soldier Kumar.

Rio, who is currently 11 months old, has received training from the Central Armed Police Forces Dog Squad Training Center in Ranchi, Jharkhand, and is now part of the CISF unit at the airport. The current canine team at the airport includes Rio (Labrador), Goldie (Golden Retriever), and Max and Ranger (Belgian Malinois).
