Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto extended congratulations to Donald Trump via telephone regarding his electoral success, following his arrival in Washington from China. The call occurred prior to Prabowo's scheduled meeting with President Joe Biden on Tuesday.

Having recently concluded discussions with President Xi Jinping during his initial foreign visit since assuming office, Prabowo, who advocates for a neutral foreign policy stance, shared a video recording of his conversation with Trump on his social media platforms.

The recorded conversation captured Prabowo saying, "Wherever you are, I'm willing to fly to congratulate you personally, sir," to which Trump responded, "We'll do that, anytime you want."

The Indonesian President's office confirmed the call occurred on Monday upon his Washington arrival. When questioned about potential in-person meetings with Trump, they provided no immediate response.

During the conversation, Trump characterised his electoral success as extraordinary, saying, "We had tremendous success. The most successful in over 100 years, they say."

The exchange included Trump's acknowledgment of Prabowo's standing and linguistic abilities, prompting the former special forces commander to respond: "All my training is American, sir."

When Prabowo expressed concern regarding the assassination attempt during Trump's campaign, Trump replied, "Yes, I got very lucky. I just happened to be in the right place with the right direction, otherwise I wouldn't be talking to you right now."

Additionally, Prabowo's Washington agenda included meetings with representatives from American corporations, including Freeport McMoRan and Chevron, where he encouraged investment opportunities in Indonesia.
