US secretary of state Marco Rubio on Tuesday condemned the recent Delhi blast, calling it “clearly a terrorist attack” and expressing solidarity with India. Rubio made the remarks after a meeting with external affairs minister S Jaishankar, where the two leaders discussed the ongoing investigation and regional security concerns.
Commending India’s swift response, Rubio said that authorities were “doing a great job” in handling the probe into the incident. He also reiterated the United States’ commitment to support India in its counterterrorism efforts and to strengthen bilateral cooperation in security and intelligence sharing.

Speaking to the media, Rubio said, "The Indians need to be commended. They've been very measured, cautious and very professional in how they're carrying out this investigation. That investigation continues. It clearly was a terrorist attack, and was a car loaded with highly explosive materials that detonated and killed a lot of people." He further praised India's response to the incident and said, "I think they are doing a great job of carrying out an investigation and when they have facts, they'll release those facts."

Rubio also noted that the two sides also discussed the potential wider implications of the blast for regional security but agreed to await the investigation’s final report. He also reaffirmed the United States’ support for India while acknowledging the country’s capability to conduct a thorough probe.
"We spoke about it a little bit today, and the potential that it had to become something broader. But I think we are gonna wait to see what the investigation reveals," he said, "we've offered to help, but I think they are very capable on this investigation; they don't need our help, and they are doing a good job."
He commended India’s handling of the investigation, saying authorities were “doing a great job” in pursuing leads and would share findings once confirmed. Rubio reaffirmed the United States’ support for India while acknowledging the country’s capability to conduct a thorough probe.
