At least one dead, 12 injured in Halloween party shooting in Oklahoma City

At least one person has died, and 12 others are injured after multiple gunshots were fired at a Halloween party in Oklahoma City early Saturday.

The incident began with an argument between two groups inside Patty’s Event Center , located on the 5800 block of South Agnew Avenue, about 3.5 miles east of Will Rogers World Airport, around 12:30 am, according to a CNN report citing Oklahoma City police . The argument continued into the parking lot, where shots were fired. The verbal altercation then moved back inside the venue, where gunfire continued, according to Sergeant Jon Skuta.

One male died at the scene, and 12 others sustained gunshot wounds, according to Skuta. Two of the injured were transported to a local hospital in critical condition .

Police are currently investigating the incident and have detained several individuals but have not identified any suspects. Investigators are using cellphone videos as part of their evidence. Authorities believe multiple gunmen were involved and that rifles were used.

According to police, this was not a random shooting , and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The total number of attendees at the party remains unknown.
