India meteorological department (IMD) issued a heavy rainfall warning for Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod on Wednesday.
Two districts, Kannur and Kasaragod, are on yellow alert on Thursday and Saturday, while Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are on alert on Friday.
Squally wind speeds reaching 45-55kmph, gusting to 65kmph, are likely to prevail along and off Somalia, Oman, southern parts of northwest Arabian Sea, northern parts of southwest Arabian Sea, over south Tamil Nadu coast, the Gulf of Mannar and the adjoining Comorin area.
Strong surface winds with speeds reaching 40-50kmph are likely to prevail occasionally over Kerala until July 5. TNN
