NEW DELHI: Jammu & Kashmir Congress chief, Tariq Hameed Karra , on Friday said that they will provide unconditional support to the National Conference for the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the alliance is beyond ministerial posts.
"We have no demands. We are supporting the National Conference for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We will sit with them formally and at that time we will discuss what the model of governance will be like. The spirit of this alliance is far beyond the game of numbers and ministerial posts," said Karra.
Earlier, several independent MLAs extended support to National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir including AAP's debutant Mehraj Malik. A formal letter of support was submitted by AAP for the Omar Abdullah-led government to the lieutenant governor's office.
The National Conference (NC) has secured a decisive majority following the elections which were held nearly after a decade. National Congress secured 42 seats while its ally Congress won six and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) one seat, respectively, passing the majority mark of 48 in a 95 member state assembly.
Omar Abdullah was unanimously chosen as the leader of the National Conference legislative group on Thursday, according to NC president Farooq Abdullah.
