NEW DELHI: A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday evening at a construction site for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor in Vasad village, Anand district. A temporary structure collapsed, claiming the lives of three workers and leaving another injured, officials reported.

However, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which oversees the bullet train project , later clarified that the incident involved a temporary steel and concrete structure used for well foundation work near the Mahi River close to Vadodara.

Anand Superintendent of Police Gaurav Jasani confirmed the fatalities, saying, "Three workers died, and another is undergoing treatment at the hospital." According to Anand fire officer Dharmesh Gor, four workers were trapped under the concrete blocks. "Two died on the spot, and the third succumbed to injuries at the hospital," Gor explained.
Rescue teams, assisted by local volunteers, worked relentlessly to clear the debris using cranes and excavators, ensuring no other workers remained trapped. "The fallen blocks are being removed to verify that no more workers are trapped," added Gor.
