NEW DELHI: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting conflict-ridden Manipur , while trying to mediate the Russia-Ukraine war. Speaking at a meeting at the AIMIM headquarters, Owaisi questioned PM Modi 's priorities amid the ongoing violence in Manipur, which has witnessed continuous unrest.

Owaisi said, "Manipur has been burning for almost a year. Our Modi ji sent the NSA to Putin to stop the Ukraine war. There is fire in the house, but he is more concerned about Ukraine".

The AIMIM leader addressed recent comments by Union minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who claimed that Madrasas were training students to use AK-47 rifles. Owaisi condemned the remarks, questioning the minister's "hatred for Muslims" and pointing out that Muslims have contributed majorly to India's freedom movement, recalling that Madrasas had issued fatwas to oppose British rule. "You have a disease of Islamophobia ," Owaisi said.

Addressing the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill , Owaisi claimed that it could lead to the loss of Muslim properties. He expressed concern that removing the 'waqf by user' clause would enable others to claim Waqf land without proper documentation. He alleged that the legislation is part of a broader agenda by the RSS to take control of key mosques, such as those in Kashi and Mathura.

"They want to take away our mosques. RSS says 30,000 mosques belong to them, not Muslims," Owaisi noted.
