NASHIK/PUNE: Two trainee Agniveers engaged in a field firing exercise at Nashik Artillery Centre range died while their trainer, a havildar, was wounded when a light field gun shell accidentally exploded on them, Army said Friday.
Vishwarajsinh Mahipatsinh Gohil (20) from Rajasthan and Saikat Shit (21) of Bengal were in a batch of 200 Agniveers from Artillery Centre in Hyderabad training in Nashik over the past few weeks. Around 12.10pm Thursday, a shell from the light field gun landed a few metres away and exploded, grievously injuring the duo and their trainer. All three were taken to a Military Hospital , where Mahipatsinh and Saikat died of their injuries, said an Army official.
