NEW DELHI: In response to Priyanka Gandhi 's allegation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi disrespected Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge by not replying to his letter personally, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju hit back at her with a "lesson for someone who does not understand Parliamentary traditions and standards."

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of disrespecting her party president, Mallikarjun Kharge, by not replying to his letter personally. She said it was disappointing that top leaders are ignoring important democratic traditions.

In response, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that Priyanka Gandhi does not understand the “parliamentary traditions”. He continued to explain that BJP president JP Nadda responded to Kharge’s letter because both Nadda and Kharge hold similar positions in Parliament.

Kharge had written to Modi, asking for strict action against certain leaders of BJP and its allies who made offensive statements against Rahul Gandhi. In his reply, Nadda accused Rahul Gandhi of attacking Prime Minister Modi and the Other Backward Classes (OBC), and of supporting anti-India groups.

Rijiju posted on X, saying, “A lesson for someone who does not understand Parliamentary traditions and standards. Mallikarjun Kharge Ji is Congress Party President, and we respect him. JP Nadda Ji is National President of BJP. Is Congress Party's President above the BJP President ? Mallikarjun ji is leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha but JP Nadda ji is the leader of the House in Rajya Sabha! Is leader of opposition above leader of the house? I am responding only because some people think they are above everyone in the country, & no one else matter in Congress Party !!"

"We all are citizens of India and we all are equals & do not impose dynastic culture on us. Don't abuse someone who is much senior, has full lifetime experience in public life, and who is the Prime Minister of 140 Cr Indians!, he wrote on X.
