Inspector General Datwinder Singh Saini takes charge of Coast Guard Region (East)

Inspector General Datwinder Singh Saini , on Sunday, took over the helm of Coast Guard Region (East) from Inspector General Donny Michael, who is proceeding to Visakhapatnam on promotion as Additional Director General. A ceremonial parade was held on the occasion.

Inspector General Datwinder Singh Saini, joined the Indian Coast Guard on January 15, 1990. The officer is a graduate from Delhi University. He has also successfully completed IMO specialization course from Virginia, USA in 2003. He has held important HR, operational and administrative appointments in the past such as officer-in-charge, Bureau of Naviks at Mumbai, principal director (administration) at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi and operational command of almost all class of ICG ships both on Western and Eastern seaboards such as Inshore Patrol Vessel Tarabai, Fast Patrol Vessel Sarojini Naidu and new generation Offshore Patrol Vessel Samrat. He also held command of Coast Guard station at Mandapam (TN) in 2009-10.

On promotion to the flag rank of Inspector General on November 22, 2023 he was appointed as Chief of Staff at Headquarters Coast Guard Western Seaboard at Mumbai. On taking over as Regional Commander East, Inspector General Datwinder Singh Saini, will focus on effective operational deployment , capacity augmentation, infrastructure development to support frontline units, high maintenance and safety standards, training and maintaining service ethos by all ICG personnel in Coast Guard Region East .
