Ghaziabad: A 28-year-old man responsible for handling the Noida DM's social media accounts was arrested after a post from the senior administrative official's ‘X' handle, purportedly attacking Congress leaders, elicited widespread criticism.
Manish Mishra, ADCP, said Sohan Singh of Aligarh was a contractual employee in the DM office for the past three months.
"A case under relevant sections of the IT Act was registered at Sector 20 police station on Friday. The accused was remanded in judicial custody after being produced in court," he added.
On Friday evening, DM Manish Kumar Verma informed police that his official ‘X' account was compromised and used to post comments against Congress leaders.
Around 6pm on Friday, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate had posted a video with the caption "history cannot be changed, history is made. Narendra Modi knows how history will remember him and that is why he is worried".
Reacting to the post, a comment from the DM's handle read, "Are tum apni aur apne pappu ke baare m socho (you think about yourself and Pappu)".
Shrinate later shared a screenshot of the post. "This is DM Noida. He is responsible for the whole district. His language and thoughts about the country's opposition leader Rahul Gandhi must be seen. It is clear that the administrative staff is full of Sanghis — and now they are sitting on constitutional posts and fuelling hatred," she wrote.
