Congress observers meet Haryana MLAs over CLP head selection

Send Push
CHANDIGARH: Haryana Congress remains in a limbo over its next legislature party chief , since the decision rests with the party's brass that will take a call after three observers tasked with gathering feedback from the newly elected MLAs will submit their report.

The observers - former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot , Congress general secretary Ajay Maken and T S Singh Deo - met all the 37 Congress legislators at the party office in Chandigarh on Friday. State Congress president Udai Bhan and Punjab's leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa also attended the meeting.

After a brief discussion on the party's mandate, the observers met each MLAs separately to know their views. Despite former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda being blamed by many for the party's debacle, 32 of the 37 MLAs are aligned with him, and only four with Lok Sabha MP Kumari Selja, while one MLA, Aditya Surjewala, is son of Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala.
