NEW DELHI: Actor Shah Rukh Khan on Thursday received a death threat over a call demanding Rs 50 lakh, prompting the police to register an FIR.
According to Mumbai police, an extortion case has been registered against an unidentified person at Bandra Police Station in Mumbai under section 308(4) and 351(3)(4) of BNS.
Mumbai Police team has reportedly traced the call to Chhattisgarh's Raipur. Teams of the Mumbai Police have since left for Chhattisgarh to further probe the case.
While there was no confirmation from Mumbai police on reports that the call was made from Raipur in Chhattisgarh, a Raipur police official said Mumbai police are giving notice to one Faiyaz Khan for threatening Shah Rukh Khan.
This comes as Salman Khan received a series of death threats.
Additionally, Lawrence Bishnoi gang which has been targeting Salman over his alleged involvement in the killing of a black buck, demanded Rs 5 crore as ransom in the threat.
The police, taking the threat seriously, have launched a full-scale investigation, with Worli Police Station registering a case and hot on the trail of the phone number behind the message. "In the case of a threat to Actor Salman Khan, the process of registering the case is underway at Worli Police Station. The number from which the message came is being traced," Mumbai Police said.
