Breaking down the Controversial penalty that shaped the AFC Showdown

As the Kansas City Chiefs narrowly edged out the Cincinnati Bengals in a nail-biting AFC clash, the game's pivotal moments were scrutinized by fans and analysts alike. On the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast, Jason Kelce reflected on the controversial penalty that played a crucial role in the game's outcome.

"Whenever you're in a two-minute drill, penalties, sacks like these things are just like crucial that you don't do easier said than done when you're trying to block Trey Hendrickson. But yeah, that one almost killed you guys, and you guys get bailed out of fourth and 16 with 48 seconds left. Pat targets Rashee Rice again, but this time, somebody arrives a little early.”

"I don't even know how this is controversial. I really don't. I get that people are frustrated with the officials and the Chiefs, I guess. I mean, you can't run through a receiver's back and check to make a play on the ball." (via: Sportskeeda)

Travis echoed Jason's views, agreeing that the call seemed clear-cut. However, he acknowledged that he understood why Bengals fans were sad.

"It's just like on the play before that, you can't put your hands in someone's face while they're rushing. You can't do exactly. It's the same thing. It's hands to the face, and then there's a there's a pass interference, and it is what it is. But yeah, I can see how everybody's upset."

Travis Kelce criticized the Kansas City Chiefs offense

The Kansas City Chiefs are on a quest to make NFL history with the goal of winning three straight Super Bowls. Despite their 2-0 start this season, their wins have been anything but flawless, missing the explosive offensive showings fans have come to expect. On this week’s "New Heights" podcast, Travis Kelce didn’t hold back, criticizing the offense for falling short while giving kudos to the defense for their crucial role in keeping the team competitive.

“I mean, initial thoughts are we got to play better as an offense. I think the defense is playing their a**es off, getting turnovers, finding a way to make opposing quarterbacks uncomfortable.” Travis added.

The three-time Super Bowl champion took complete responsibility for his performance and outlined what he needs to improve.

He further mentioned “I think it starts with making sure you're going with the right mentality. I didn't play my best. It spreads if you don't fix it. So, I got to get that thing fixed, man.”

Travis Kelce has been quarterback Patrick Mahomes' go-to target over the past few seasons. However, through the first two weeks of this season, Kelce has recorded only four catches for a combined 39 yards.
