ICC announces record prize money for Women's T20 World Cup 2024

NEW DELHI: The International Cricket Council ( ICC ) has announced a significant increase in the prize money for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup . The tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates in October, and the prize pool for the 2024 edition has been raised to $7.958 million, more than double the amount offered in 2023.


The winners of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 will receive $2.34 million, up from the $1 million awarded to the champions in 2023. The runners-up will get $1.17 million, also a 134% increase. Semi-finalists will be awarded $675,000 each, over three times their payout from last year.


Teams will also see higher rewards for their group stage performance. Each group stage win will now be worth $31,154, up from last year's $17,500. Teams exiting in the group stages will receive $112,500 each, making the total for all 10 participating teams $1.125 million. Teams finishing fifth to eighth will earn $270,000 each, and those finishing ninth and tenth will get $135,000 each.


These changes showcase the ICC's effort to support and promote women's cricket . The increased prize money aligns with the goal to achieve parity between the men's and women's games and elevates the status of the Women's T20 World Cup .

The tournament will take place in Dubai and Sharjah from October 3 to October 20. Group matches will conclude by October 15, followed by semi-finals on October 17 and 18. The final will be held on October 20.

Notably, there is a change in the match schedule for the double-header on October 5 in Sharjah.

Australia will now play against Sri Lanka at 14:00, followed by the Bangladesh versus England match at 18:00 local time.
