On Thursday Night Football, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered his third recorded concussion in the NFL . He ran head-first into Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, resulting in another concussion for the signal caller. Despite the recent calls for Tagovailoa to retire, he has no intention of hanging up. Although concussion protocol is the same for every player, Tagovailoa's unique situation could cause him to be out for weeks or longer, depending on doctors' reports. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has provided an update on his potential recovery time.
Mike McDaniel provides latest update on Tua TagovailoaMiami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel stated that there is currently insufficient information to decide on placing quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve. “That's going to be driven by medical experts,” McDaniel said. “Not quite ready to make a distinction on that. … We'll see in the next couple of days.”

Dolphins QB Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in a loss to the Buffalo Bills, and Dolphins coach Jim McDaniel has no idea about his return timeline. He confirmed Tagovailoa was at the team's facility and doing well today. "He was feeling good. But what does that mean in terms of a medical diagnosis?” McDaniel told reporters. “I don't base my judgments on my interactions with him necessarily as much as hearing the end results of the medical examination, and where he's at. It was good to see him. I know he teammates were pumped to see him.”

Ian Rapoport, an NFL Network Insider, reported that Tagovailoa has no plans to retire and is currently seeking consultations with concussion specialists. McDaniel has not speculate on the impact of Tagovailoa's third concussion since the start of the 2022 season on his career decisions. “I think it's utmost priority of mine for Tua to speak to his career,” McDaniel said. “I think reports are reports. I think as far as I'm concerned I'm just worried about the human being. I think I'll let Tua be the champion of his own career and speak on that.”

Tagovailoa is now undergoing further testing to determine if his return to the field is not detrimental to his health. The NFL may intervene in this situation, as player safety is a top priority for the league. This could potentially lead to more testing for players who have experienced multiple concussions in their careers or seasons.
