Karwa Chauth is a significant festivals of Hindus. This day is considered the most auspicious day offer prayers to Chauth Mata. On this day, married women observe Nirjala Fast for the well being and longevity of their husbands. They break their fast only when the moon rises and do not eat during the entire day. On the day of Karwa Chauth, they perform Puja to Chauth Mata or Gauri Mata and ask for blessings, women adorn themselves with shringar items, wear beautiful traditional clothes and apply mehendi on their hands and feets. In the evening, once the moon rises, they offer water to the Moon God from an earthen pot they kept during puja.
