How to Spiritually Cleanse Yourself?

Send Push
How to spiritually cleanse yourself from the bad deeds before dying? Is there a way to become pure within?

Yes of-course, there is!

The Enlightened One explains:
“Prayashchit” implies repenting over one’s committed sins. By doing repentance, the sins can be washed off. To clear off any sin, it is very important to do Alochana (heart-felt confession of a mistake), Pratikraman and Pratyakhyan instantly, and it ought to be not merely in words, but with a heart-felt repentance. If we have bad thoughts or negativity, we should immediately confess them to God. The thoughts will linger as long as there is a karmic account. But just confess to God that we have had bad thoughts. Ask for forgiveness and vow never to do it again. If someone commits a murder and then repents in front of God, he can be freed. But if he is pleased upon killing, then he will bind very serious bad karma . And if he repents for his actions, he will bind a light karma.

The karma are bound and then released. The murder that takes place is really a karma that (was bound earlier and today it is due for discharge) discharges its effect to become free. When does the (new) binding (of karma) occur? It is bound at the time when the thought enters one’s mind that it is okay to kill. At that time a new karma is bound. (But) if while the karma is discharging, one repents, then he can escape the (new) consequences. Killing will have grave consequences. The killer will be disgraced and even suffer all kinds of disease within the body. Everything will have to be suffered here and here only.

The new karmas that are bound will not be very sticky when he repents sincerely
The process of killing is a karma effect and it has to be suffered. One must accept the fruit of karma, but if repentance is done whole-heartedly, then the new karma will become light. On the other hand, if one is very jubilant after the killing is done, then the newly bound karma will be very grave.

For example, a man is forced to kill a deer to feed his family. By killing, he commits a bad karma. A prince on the other hand, goes deer hunting for a sport and is thrilled when he manages to kill a deer. Now in both the situations, a deer has been killed. One kills for food and the other for his enjoyment. The man who kills for food will end up from the human form into the animal form! The prince however, who does not eat meat, but hunts for sport and pleasure, will go to hell. The karma was the same for both but their intentions were different. People are not aware of these rules, so they need someone like me to explain it to them.

The slightest misery we give to any living being will return to our own body...
That is why the Lord has told us to practice ahimsa (non-violence) through the mind, body, and speech. If we want to be happy, then we must not hurt any living being, even slightly.

Based on the karmas one has bound, one can go into any of the four life-forms.
In today’s age, one generally does not commit such severe karma that can lead him to hell. But don’t some people explode a bomb and 200-500 people get killed? Then (committing such sins), one has to go to the lower life-form of hell.

Most of the people commit sins such as lying, stealing, cheating people, etc. Then again they feel that, ‘I am doing wrong deeds, but I am forced to do that.’ Owing to this back and forth, one may at the most have to go to the animal form. People indulging in corruption, malpractices, injustice, etc. that we can see everywhere are those who will have to go from two legs to four legs, they’ve taken a return ticket (from human to animal) and come. They hurt others and become happy, what a big risk that is!

They don’t realize that they are causing hurt to others, that too just for the sake of their own happiness, for their own selfish interest; hence they have to go in animal (life-form). The whole life, when lived for the happiness of others only, like Saint Jalaram, Sai Baba, etc., they go to heaven. And ‘what we do not like, if we do not do that with others’, then we am following the religion of humans and I come back in human life-form.

So improve the karmic seeds that you are planting
When we hurt others, is it said to be a good karma? Yet, we happen to hurt others, don’t we?
We don’t want to hurt, yet we happen to hurt. It’s because what happens is not in our control. Then what is in our control? To ask for forgiveness! ‘Dear God, we ask for forgiveness. We do not want to hurt anyone.’

When one hurts others, one binds karma that will take one to the lower life-form. However, if one repents over his deeds, then one can be reborn as a human. If for the whole life, one lives for the happiness of others only, then he is born in heaven. But for no good reason, if one kills others; and also takes pleasure in it, “I shot one arrow and brought an end to that animal’s life!”, then one goes to hell.... A new body is formed there. In hell, the body is like mercury. Mercury means even if we cut it, it once again merges together; similarly, the body in hell is such that even if the body has been cut into parts, the parts will again join and the body will become intact. It means (in spite of severe pain and suffering that one is subjected to in hell), they have to finish their lifespan, which is very, very long; they just cannot die (and be saved from further suffering, even when cut into pieces).

Hence, For every wrong deed that may have happened by us, while alive, we must recall such deeds and sincerely repent before God that, “Oh God! I seek forgiveness for my deeds. I do not want to hurt any living being, not even in my thoughts, nor through my speech or actions.” This will spiritually cleanse one’s Self.

And it’s due to ignorance of the Self that one is binding karma, and consequently, constantly wandering in the four life-forms. If one stops binding karma and finishes all the old karma effects, then one attains liberation. To attain liberation, one must obtain the knowledge of the Self (Self-Realization) from the Enlightened One. To attain Self-Realization, visit
