NEW DELHI: Delhi Capitals have signed Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement for Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk , who has opted out of the remainder of IPL 2025 due to personal reasons.
Mustafizur, who previously played for DC in 2022 and 2023, returns to the franchise on a deal worth Rs 6 crore.
However, his participation is not yet confirmed, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealing that no No-Objection Certificate (NOC) has been issued for him.

“He is with the national team, flying to the UAE for the T20I series,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury told Cricbuzz.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play the UAE on May 17 and 19, creating a potential conflict for Mustafizur’s immediate availability in the IPL.
The seasoned pacer has a rich IPL pedigree, having made a sensational debut with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016, where he won the Emerging Player award. Across 57 IPL matches, he has taken 61 wickets, and his international T20I record boasts 132 scalps from 106 games.
If cleared to play, he will add to DC’s left-arm pace arsenal alongside Mitchell Starc and T Natarajan , though Starc is now reportedly set to exit the tournament as well.
Fraser-McGurk’s exit comes in the wake of the emotional toll from the mid-match evacuation in Dharamsala, triggered by regional tensions.
His coach, Shanon Young, described the 23-year-old as “shaken more than most,” especially given his age and the unfamiliarity with such high-pressure situations. Delhi Capitals management has been praised for its swift and supportive response during the crisis.
With three crucial matches left against GT, MI, and PBKS, DC are still in the playoff race. They currently sit fifth on the table, just one point shy of the top four.
