Metro Railway, Kolkata, commemorated the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr B.R. Ambedkar with a ceremony held at Metro Rail Bhavan.
The event began with P. Uday Kumar Reddy, general manager of Metro Railway, lighting a traditional lamp. He then led the tributes by garlanding a portrait of Dr Ambedkar, the revered scholar and principal architect of the Indian Constitution.
Senior officers and staff members joined in paying their respects, offering floral tributes to the iconic leader. A collective pledge was undertaken by all present, reaffirming their commitment to upholding equal rights for all citizens – a principle championed by Dr Ambedkar.
Representatives from the All India Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes Railway Employees Association, along with members of recognised unions and Metro staff, also participated in the occasion, offering floral tributes to this distinguished figure of the nation.
