Offbeat locations in and around Kolkata to opt for
While a shoot at the Mullick Ghat flower market is convenient, city wedding planners and photographers have better options. Sreeman Pal, owner of The Sparkling Wedding, shared, “Farm houses on Kolkata’s outskirts, lakes near the city & Chorda in Bankura are places that can be explored for a unique experience and concept.” Couples are also opting for a royal experience at rajbaris for pre-wedding shoots. “The Laha Bari, Serampore Bari and Rajbari Bawali are the top choices for couples. The rental charges may vary with the time and season, but it starts from around `30,000 for an hour,” added Debarghya Saha, owner of Qpidindia. Rishika Singhee, marketing director, The Barge Company, said, “With the backdrop of the Howrah Bridge & a romantic ambience, shoots and proposals on speed boats and barges are popular too.”
Pondicherry reigns supreme for pre-wedding shoots
According to wedding planners, Pondicherry, with its French colony vibes, has recently emerged as the top choice of couples for an outstation pre-wedding shoot. “The vibrant colours of the buildings, the colonial charm, and the beaches have made it the go-to choice for most couples,” said Sreeman Pal. According to Pal, a shoot in Pondicherry can cost nearly `1.2 lakh during the peak season, excluding the flight fare and accommodation, which keep changing depending on the season.
Things to keep in mind for the shoot
To avoid hiccups, it is important to know the location and have a storyboard for the shoot in mind. “A destination like Mandarmani with multiple spots always helps but for a smooth shoot, it is important to have the logistics sorted. We suggest three things – a vanity van (if possible), a make-up team you trust, and lots of props for picture options to make the final shots stand out,” said Tanmay Das, a city-based wedding photographer and videographer.
