Aarya Babbar, who is making his comeback on television after eight years with Jagriti: Ek Naayi Subah, recently opened up about his journey into stand-up comedy. In an interview with ETimes TV, Aarya shared that stand-up has become a significant part of his life, even though his focus is now more on his new TV show. He emphasized that comedy will not take a backseat, stating, "Stand up is not going to take a backseat. I am still trying to make it a point that I get to do standup once or twice in a month or do open-mics whenever I get an opportunity. But as of now, my concentration will be more towards this show.”

Aarya revealed that his foray into stand-up began last year when he was looking for something more fulfilling. "I was doing movies for money, but there was no creative satisfaction," he confessed. Seeking a creative outlet, he started performing at open-mics, where new and young comedians take the stage for short performances. It was during these open-mic sessions that Aarya found a sense of instant gratification and joy.

He said, “I wanted an outlet jahan mujhe creatively khushi mile. So I got to know a lot of places jahaan open mics hote hai, where many new and young comics take the stage and just perform for 4-10mins. I just decided to go for that. That was instant gratification. Instant taaliya mili, khushi mili. With that response, I got so much of creative happiness, that I wanted to keep going back on stage. For one-one and half years I did stage shows and then I created my own show and started performing.”

The applause and appreciation from the audience sparked his passion for comedy, which led him to continue performing and eventually create his own comedy show. Although his current focus is on Jagriti, Aarya expressed his desire to keep returning to the stage, highlighting how stand-up comedy brings him immense creative happiness.
