Guwahati: A community library at Guwahati’s Rehabari aims at providing safe and inclusive spaces for reading and active thinking for children from diverse backgrounds.

The community library is backed by a philanthropic organisation, Blue Ladder Trust, dedicated to nurturing a love for reading, especially among underprivileged children with the motto: “Everyone has the right to read”.

The library is designed to be a haven for children where young minds can indulge in reading, borrow books, and participate in a variety of enriching activities. These include storytelling sessions, book discussions, literary games, creative writing workshops, artistic pursuits, dramatisations, collaborative projects, and themed book displays. The library boasts an impressive collection of over 5,000 books, ensuring there is something for every child.

The founder, Prerna Agarwal, is a certified library educator and storyteller with 20 years of experience working with children.

“Our vision is to empower children with knowledge, skills, and opportunities so that they find their inner voice, become confident, and live happy and wholesome lives,” said Prerna.
