Tovino Thomas has brought a revolution in Malayalam cinema by redefining male leads. Breaking the norm of larger-than-life superheroes, he introduced a wave of a new wave of characters that are cinematically perfect and morally correct. Despite having flaws, the fictional roles played by him had a sense of realism. His upcoming film, Ajayante Randam Moshanam a.k.a A.R.M. is another addition.

Tovino Thomas on fitting into the Alpha male bracket for films Amid the promotions of A.R.M., Tovino spoke to Zoom exclusively about discourse around alpha male characters highlighted in films like Animal, Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy to name a few. When asked whether he sees himself playing a similar role, the 2018 star said, “As an actor, I should be able to play any character. Be it alpha male, sigma male or anything else. I should be able to perform and convince people if something like that comes to me.” ALSO READ: Tovino Thomas Feels A.R.M. Is Releasing 'At The Right Times': Kantara, Stree 2 Were Received Well... | Exclusive Talking about the politics surrounding such films, Tovino shared, “I have seen the discussion around movies being good, politics surrounding the story and people’s opinions. I believe exceptional filmmaking and performances shouldn’t go unnoticed because of politics. Filmmaking should be appreciated. At the same time, directors and creators should understand their responsibility towards the audience and society. Cinema is the most influential medium in the world. If you’re making people imitate or take the ideology ahead, then it is a responsibility to not give wrong or regressive ideas. Cinema being a powerful tool, people tend to imitate or follow their on-screen idols. Good storytelling and performances should not be attacked. With a beautiful ideology and political views, if I make a bad movie, will you call it a good movie? No. A good movie with a bad ideology is still a good movie. It shouldn't be called a bad movie.” About A.R.M. A.R.M. is set in Northern Kerala in 1900, 1950, and 1990. It follows the story of Maniyan, Kunjikelu and Ajayan who attempt to protect the most important treasure of the land. Ajayante Randam Moshanam, directed by Jithin Laal, also stars Basil Joseph, Aishwarya Rajesh, Krithi Shetty, Surabhi Lakshmi, Jagadish, Aju Varghese, Rohini, Harish Uthaman, Nisthar Sait, and Pramod Shetty.
