India Threat Underplayed As Pakistan Coach Backs Australia To Win Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Send Push

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is the most anticipated Test series. The two cricket superpowers will lock horns in a five-match Test series from November 22. India have been outstanding against Australia, winning four consecutive Test series, including two in Australia. India have a rare opportunity to complete a hattrick of series wins in Australia.Ahead of the series, the cricket pundits have got the prediction caps on. The likes of Ricky Ponting and Nathan Lyon have backed Australia to win while Indian legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri have put the weight behind the Rohit Sharma-led side. The latest to join the bandwagon is former Australia cricketer and current Pakistan Test coach Jason Gillespie who backed Australia to win the series. Lavishing praise on the fearsome Australia bowling attack comprising Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Nathan Lyon, Gillespie backed Australia 'to do the job'.“I will be backing them to do the job,” Gillespie told Fox Sports. “They are the best bowlers in the country. I think their records speak for themselves. This quartet is the best possible bowling attack that Australia can put out in the park,” he added.“They are red-hot, they are playing some good test cricket for a while now. Even though they have beaten Australia in recent times. I think Australia have a chance to beat India this time around,” said Gillespie.

'Steve Smith Should Play At 4': Jason GillespieGillespie further said he wants Steve Smith to bat as his usual no. 4 slot. Steve Smith was promoted to open after the retirement of David Warner, however, Gillespie feels the no. 4 position is best suited for Smith.“Players like David Warner is pretty tough to replace. I didn’t mind the idea of Steve smith going up in the order. I have a feeling that he might have slot back in the middle order to bat at 4,” he said.
