The ongoing India-New Zealand 1st Test saw a plethora records being achieved but all for the wrong reasons. Rohit Sharma-led India were bundled out for 46 runs. After a gap of 136 years, five of the top 8 batters took the long walk back to the pavilion by scoring a duck. Virat Kohli bagged an unwanted record of achieving the most number of ducks in Test cricket and for the 4th time in the history, India conceded a 200+ run lead at home. The list is quite big but there was something to cheer about for Virat Kohli as well. The Indian superstar become the fourth batter from his country to notch up 9000 runs in the longest format of the game. But there was once such record, which stood as a new record in Test cricket. A total of 453 runs were scored on Day 3 of the ongoing Test. The Kiwis added 222 runs on the third day before getting all-out for 402 runs. India led by Rohit, Virat and Sarfaraz Khan put up 231 runs on the board at stumps. This 453 runs is till now the highest number of runs scored in single day on the 3rd day of a Test in India. Next to this total is 418 runs scored during the 2013 Mohali Test between India and Australia. The India-Sri Lanka Brabourne Test of 2009 till date saw the highest runs being scored in a day in India. Both the teams accumulated a total of 470 runs on Day 2 of that Test. The Indian second innings of the ongoing Test was a much improved one as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz took control of things with respective half-centuries. The captain went out after scoring 52, while Virat was dismissed on the final ball of the day and had to settle down for 70 runs. Sarfaraz Khan is still there at the crease and properly set in the 70s. India will be banking on him to take the lead in the game on the penultimate day.
