Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan’s The Legend of Maula Jatt is finally releasing in India. After two years of wait, the Pakistani blockbuster can be viewed by the Indian audience in cinema halls from October 2.

The Legend Of Maula Jatt to release in India The Legend of Maula Jatt’s official Instagram handle shared the news and wrote, “Two years on, The Legend of Maula Jatt is still unstoppable! Witness the epic saga on the big screen in India from 2nd October 2024. Cinema listing to be shared soon.”

The Legend of Maula Jatt became the highest-grossing Pakistani film. The action drama collected over 400 crores worldwide. As per reports, it was the second-highest-grossing film in the UK and the most-watched South Asian film in Norway in 2022. But only in Delhi and Punjab. However, days before the release, the CBFC stalled the film in the country. Reacting to the same, Fawad told CNN, “That would be great, obviously. If it were to happen, it’s a great way to handshake. It is kind of like those sweets and delights we send across to one another on Eid and Diwali. Films and music is that kind of an exchange. But things are a bit heated still, let’s see. I’ve heard it may release and it may not. So, let us see.” Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Ameya Khopkar strongly opposed The Legend Of Maula Jatt’s release in India. There was a ban on Pakistani artistes after the Pulwama attack in 2019 as imposed by the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA). In 2023, the Bombay High Court dismissed a petition to ban Pakistani artistes from working in India. The Legend of Maula Jatt is an adaptation of the 1979 Pakistani cult classic film of the same name.
