“Timing Is Everything,” Wasim Jaffer Trolls Michael Vaughan For His Tweet On Test Division

The former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer once again displayed his humorous side in social media banter with former England skipper Michael Vaughan. The banter took a new turn when Jaffer responded to Vaughan’s post on X, where Vaughan suggested that test cricket should have two divisions and a more even distribution of wealth among the test -playing nations.

Michael Vaughan tweeted, “Test cricket needs to be 2 Divisions of 6 ASAP .. and spread the wealth of the game more evenly across all countries”

Jaffer humorously responded by sharing the World Test Championship (WTC) 2024-25 table, showing England at the bottom which was a subtle jibe at England’s recent performance.

Wasim Jaffer tweeted, “Timing is everything. And Michael is a wise man who understands that. That’s why he didn’t tweet this a month ago when WTC table looked like this.”

England’s position in the WTC standings took a significant hit following their 1-4 series defeat against India earlier this year. However, despite bouncing back with victories against the West Indies and Sri Lanka in home conditions, England remains at the lower end of the table.

The team now prepares for their final test against Sri Lanka at The Oval, London, starting on September 6. Though the English team will miss the services of some important players – Ben Stokes, Zak Crawley, and Mark Wood due to injuries, still England will enter the match as favourites.

Meanwhile, India is gearing up for a two-match test series against Bangladesh, with games scheduled in Chennai and Kanpur starting September 19. This series marks Gautam Gambhir’s first assignment as the newly appointed Head Coach of the Indian team, following the team’s surprising white-ball series defeat to Sri Lanka. The series will also serve as a crucial preparation for India as they build up to the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, beginning in November 2024.

The Indian team should be very cautious against Bangladesh as they must be high on confidence after defeating Pakistan in the 2-match test series by 2-0. This is the first time ever that Bangladesh has defeated Pakistan in test and test series as well and what has made Pakistani fans even sadder is the fact that both the test matches were played at home (in Rawalpindi).
