Beach holidays are, for many, the best kind of break. Golden sand, warm weather and crystal-clear waters - what's not to like? They're perfect for relaxing, swimming or just switching off. And while the UK has its fair share of lovely beaches, very few can compete with a beach that's often described as "the best" and "the most beautiful" in the world.

Varadero Beach in Cuba has consistently featured in global rankings of the world's best . With 13 miles of soft white sand and turquoise water, it's no surprise that visitors keep calling it "heaven on earth". Located on the Hicacos Peninsula, Varadero is Cuba's most famous beach. It sits about 87 miles (140km) from Havana and is well known for its calm, clear water and tropical surroundings. The beach is lined with all-inclusive resorts, but it's the natural beauty that continues to impress.
