Where The Voice UK winners are now - brutal axe, firefighter and wannabe Prime Minister

Since returning to ITV fans have been left wowed by The Voice contestants on the show. The popular vocal talent show has catapulted singers into the music industry and allowed them to perform in front of the likes of Adele while others have suffered the pitfall and been forced to return to their former lives away from the glitz and glamour.

The popular programme returned last month following a major shake up as Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones have been joined by fresh faces on the coaching panel.

International hitmaker LeAnn Rimes and McFly's Tom Fletcher were named as the new celebrities to mentor the contestant. Viewers were relieved that Danny Jones had reprised his role, teamed up with Tom, 39, and sat on the infamous double sofa.

This change means the duo either have to agree on their decision - or risk fallout if someone makes the call alone. Both Danny, 38, and Tom were put in the boy band McFly back in 2003 and have been the best of friends ever since building up a close bond for the past 21 years. They

The search continues across the country with the judges desperately searching to scout ten contestants each in a bid to be crowned the winner. Since the show's inception, 12 vocalists have won the huge cash prize and recording contract, with The Voice's first champion being Leanne Mitchell.

Express.co.uk has taken a look back at The Voice's winners over the past decade.

Twelve years since her debut on the show, Leanne now 40, struggled to break her way through the tough industry.

She was guided by Welsh legend Sir Tom Jones but suffered poor album sales which meant her career was short lived.

However, she went on to have a son called Leo and focused on becoming a new mum. It has been reported that she held her previous job as a holiday camp singer.

The second Winner was a Belfast born star who has gone on to be a successful singer-songwriter in Ireland. She lost her vision after suffering glaucoma as a child and said she hoped that her victory would inspire other partially sighted.

In 2019, she released her second album, Soul of a Songbird. She has gone on tour with her aunt, Philomena Begley, who is an Irish country singer.

HShe also released a book about her experiences on the show, called I Didn't See That Coming.

Ten years ago Jermain Jackman left judges astonished by his soulful ability. He was quickly scooped up by Will.i.am leading him to become his first act to win the series.

However, he claimed he was quitting the music business in 2014 to continue his studies in politics. He told Tellymix at the time: "I've stepped back from music for now. I saw some things I didn't like and I was losing the love for music. Maybe I'll come back when I'm 23 and I've got my degree in politics."

In recent years, Jermaine, 27, has spoken of his desire to become Prime Minister, saying "anything is possible". He added: ""If I was Prime Minister, I would make music compulsory and treat it with as much respect as English, maths and science."

When Stevie McCrorie first landed, he became an instant hitmaker with his likeable charisma. He bagged himself a chart single that managed to get to number six.

Lost Stars pushed him in the right direction leading him to perform for thousands at various gigs.

However, it was short-lived, and he returned to his former job as a firefighter less than a year after winning The Voice. He told ITV Scotland: "If I go back, it's not because I have given up, I am just looking after my family. I would rather just work hard and work at my career for my family - and work at music as well alongside for my fans."

While former Liberty X singer Kevin Simm won the show in 2016, he reportedly complained about his treatment during his time on The Voice.

This gave Ricky Wilson, Kaiser Chief frontman, his second win on the show. In 2018, it was announced Kevin would join pop band Wet Wet Wet as the new lead singer, replacing Marti Pellow.

Mo Adeniran caught the watchful eye of Hollywood star Jennifer Hudson. A tear was brought to her eye when he first graced the stage.

He worked night shifts at a hotel before getting his lucky break on the show. His album Evolve peaked at number 36 when it was released but was dropped by Polydor Records shortly afterwards.

The following year Ruti Olajugbagbe was also quickly dropped by Polydor Records and returned to her former life. The youngster decided to head back to college and complete her education.

Since the show reports suggest she has remained out of the limelight keeping a low profile.

However, she was part of Adele's support act last July, with the Easy On Me singer revealing she was "obsessed" with her. Ruti, 25, sang at all of her outdoor shows.

Molly Hocking built up a loyal fan base during her time on the show and amassed a large social media following. She has continued to write songs and perform online since winning The Voice.

While she is no longer with Polydor Records, she released a song called Bones last June.

Blessing Chitapa was crowned the 2020 winner at just 18 years old. This was part of the show's first-ever virtual audience vote due to the pandemic restrictions.

However, the Zimbabwe-born singer who was coached by Olly Murs also parted ways with Island Records in 2021.

Scottish singer Craig Eddie was crowned the show's winner two years ago and last year back in June he released a new single called Elastic Heart after cutting ties with his record label.

Craig prevously shared his struggles with mental health and hearing issue tinnitus, which forced him to cancel a series of gigs earlier this year.

It was Anthonia Edwards who won the eleventh series of the show but this took viewers by surprise after she messed up her lines during the final performance.

The English-born singer was a nurse from Blackheath. She signed a prestigious recording contract with the major record label EMI and released her debut single Anyone, which was a reimagined version of the hit single by Justin Bieber.

Reports said she not only has plans to release new music this year but is currently in the midst of a dream-come-true tour with R&B legend Billy Ocean.

Duo Jen & Liv were announced as the winner of the most recent season, marking Will.i.am's second win as a coach on the adult version of the show.

Back in February 2024, they announced that they planned to change their name as a duo after signing with Universal Music Group.

The pair were later re-branded to HUNNI, updating their social media usernames and explaining that new music is on the way.
