Brits will want to dust off their winter coats and gloves as a brutal snow and rain storm looks set to smash into the UK in under two weeks time. Stretching from Stornoway to Cornwall, the 769 mile storm will bring bitterly cold weather bonechilling temperatures to millions.
UK weather maps have turned white, purple and blue indicating that snow and rain are on their way. WXCHARTS predict the storm will cover large swathes of England, Wales and Scotland on November 12 - the day after Remembrance Day. At 6am, the storm will be at its worst - those living in Perth and Kinross and Stirling in Scotland are likely to draw back their curtains to a covering of snow.
These areas are forecast to see up to 1cm of snow fall every hour. Almost the entirety of the Scottish Highlands will be hammered by rain. Argyll and Bute is estimated to see the worst in Scotland, with 3mm of rain per hour likely.
Elsewhere, Wales is hard to make out on the weather maps as it is almost completely covered by a wall of heavy rain. North and mid Wales are forecast to see a mammoth 5mm of rain every hour.
The rain will be ever so slightly lighter in South Wales, with the capital Cardiff predicted 3mm of rain.
In England, Devon, Somerset and Cornwall will witness the worst of the downpours. Rain levels will reach 5mm in Devon whilst Cornwall could see 4mm.
Temperatures also look set to take a nosedive. The mercury will plunge to 0C in the Scottish Highlands whilst Aberdeen and Inverness will see temperatures slump to just 1C.
The mercury will hover between a still chilly 3C-4C in the north west and north east of England. Wales will see temperatures of 5C whilst London, Surrey and the south East who are not set to see any rain will see the mercury hover between 7C-9C.
Seperately in the Met Office's weather outlook for this period, the forecaster warns that "all parts could see some heavy rain, but it is likely that western areas will be wettest. Strong winds are likely at times, with gales or severe gales a possibility, especially in the west".
