
Donald Trump said he will speak to Vladimir Putin in the coming days as he welcomed Poland's new conservative president to the White House. A US military flypast, paying tribute to a Polish fighter jet pilot who died in a crash last week, flew overhead as Karol Nawrocki arrived.
A press conference involving the two leaders in the Oval Office was dominated by Ukraine. Mr Trump called the war "a bloody mess" and said he was "not happy" with the number of deaths. He said he will speak to Mr Putin "over the next few days" and warned "you'll see things happen" if he is "unhappy" with the Russian President's decision.
