This town is known for its incredible coastline and it's a popular spot for those wanting to visit the seaside in summer. Kent is home to many much-loved beaches and towns, but this one is often overlooked for its more well-known neighbours such as Whitstable.
Herne Bay is a traditional British seaside resort which has been much-adored by its visitors for its classic quintessential style. It takes just 90 minutes to get to Herne Bay via train from the capital and it's an easy journey to make with regular services.
One visitor on Tripadvisor said: "Lovely beach! Calm, quiet and looked after. Beautiful gardens up on the front before hitting the pebbles.
"Walk further along the coast and they're almost private beach areas, with the sea defences in place. Really lovely area."
The beach is home to two miles of coastline, there's a sand and shingle beach, colourful beach huts, seafront gardens, a pier and a bandstand.
Its pier, once one of the longest in the UK but later shortened, had been suffering from neglect but, following the demolition of its 1970's pavilion, has had a new lease of life, says Great British Life.
Visit Canterbury says: "Herne Bay offers plenty of things to do all year round. The distinctive 80ft Victorian clock tower watches over the seafront, while Waltrop Gardens has a wonderful flower display for those wanting to relax and enjoy the seascapes, especially with a picnic!
"The bright, colourful pier is a high point for family day out, with old fashioned fairground horses, a helter skelter, and unique retail huts and food outlets. Plus all of those sea views!"
But the beach isn't the only appeal of Herne Bay, it's also known for its vast green spaces.
One must-visit spot if you enjoy greenery is Herne Bay Memorial Park which is the town centre's largest open space.
With formal planted gardens, trees, a lake, and several sporting facilities, it is a popular spot to enjoy nature.
If you're looking for somewhere to enjoy the sun this summer, Herne Bay could be the the perfect place to enjoy a staycation.
