Paul McCartney's ex-wife Heather Mills has slammed a train passenger who accosted her during a journey, asking her to move her leg. Heather has worn a prosthetic limb ever since she lost her left leg below the knee after being struck by a police motorcycle in London in 1993, and is an advocate for amputee rights and prosthetic limb technology ever since her accident. Taking to Instagram to share the encounter, she said: "This is for everyone who travels on a train and is getting annoyed because of a tall leggy blonde who's having to stretch her leg out," she began.
"The reason for this is because you can't pull your leg right in because the underneath of the prosthetic cuts into the back of the leg. So just think twice before you turn your nose up. I just literally had a moany man who was asking me to move my leg. I tried to explain and he wouldn't listen. So I took my leg off - and he shut up," she said.
Heather was calm as she recounted the tense exchange, which took place on a South Western Railway train, talking to the camera and holding up her hand in frustration.
The 57-year-old mum of one wore a red tracksuit and yellow trimmed glasses as she said the man made the comment about her leg, unaware that one of them was prosthetic.
Heather became a household name when she married former Beatle Paul McCartney in 2002. Their daughter Bea was born in 2003.
However, the union didn't last, and they divorced in 2008 in a high-profile case which saw her awarded a £24.3million settlement.
Following the divorce, Heather has focused on her business ventures and activism. She boasts she is a "proud vegan" and is the founder of VBites, which produces meat-free, dairy-free, and fish-free products.
Additionally, she is a patron of Viva! and Viva! Health and the vice president of the Limbless Association.
Since 2019 she has been a relationship with Mike Dickman, a film producer nearly two decades her junior.
Meanwhile, Paul married Nancy Shevell in 2011, having first met in 2007.
