There's a Spanish star at Wimbledon being mentioned in the same breath as Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic, and no, it isn't Carlos Alcaraz. Instead, it's a 28-year-old journeyman with no career titles to his name.
Indeed, Jaume Munar is only ranked as the fifth-best player in his own country. He's also never been further than the second round in a Grand Slam, having won just 11 of his 25 matches in the sport's four marquee events. However, he now has a real opportunity to better that record at Wimbledon, having caused a shock in his opening match.
On Tuesday, Munar stunned the 28th seed Alexander Bublik in a five-set thriller. The world No.55 produced one of the displays of his career on Court 14 to come through 6-4 3-6 4-6 7-6 6-2.
During the clash, his Kazakh opponent was heard muttering several compliments as he struggled with Munar's intensity. At one point, he said: "Guy's won three matches on grass and he's moving like he's Djokovic."

According to tennis journalist Scott Barclay, host of the @MurrayMusing podcast, a bemused Bublik also told his team: "We should sign him (Munar). He's gonna' be the next Sinner."
Munar's track record wouldn't have drawn many previous comparisons with the current world No.1 or one of the all-time greats. He's reached just two tournament finals on the ATP Tour, losing in the Rio Open in 2021 and in the Chile Open earlier this year.
However, he's now the slight favourite for his second-round match at SW19. On Thursday, Munar will face world No.58 Fabian Marozsan from Hungary.
Marozsan won for the first time ever at Wimbledon on Tuesday. He beat Australian qualifier James Mccabe, who is currently ranked outside of the world's top 170.
