A crash described as a "serious collision" prompted the closure of a stretch of the M6 in the early hours of Tuesday. Motorists have been warned the southbound carriageway between junctions 12 and 13 is likely to remain shut for "several hours".
Following reports of the crash, involving a truck and a van, emergency services, including Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance, rushed to the scene to provide support. The traffic delays were worsened by the temporary closure due to works of a stretch of the motorway from Junction 12 to 10A.
