The year so far has proved to be an exceptional hit for cinema, and we still have over two months to go. With films such as Sinners, Weapons and Materialists having graced our screens, it has shown that since the Covid pandemic, the film industry has continued to thrive. However, there are plenty of cinematic offerings in the pipeline. From classic period retellings to a complicated love story, here are the three upcoming films that I cannot stop thinking about:
Die, My Love is a psychological dark comedy-drama film directed by Lynne Ramsay, from a screenplay by Ramsay, Enda Walsh and Alice Birch. Based on the novel of the same name by Argentine writer Ariana Harwicz, the film stars Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, with Lawrence also producing. The film's synopsis reads: "In a remote forgotten rural area, a mother struggles to maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis."
100 Nights of Hero - December 5100 Nights of Hero is a 2025 historical fantasy film written and directed by Julia Jackman, and based on the graphic novel of the same name by Isabel Greenberg, which itself was based on the Middle Eastern folktale One Thousand and One Nights. It stars Emma Corrin, Nicholas Galitzine, Maika Monroe, Amir El-Masry, Charli XCX, Richard E. Grant and Felicity Jones. The film's synopsis reads: "When a charming house guest arrives at a remote castle, the delicate dynamic between a neglectful husband, his innocent bride, and their devoted maid gets thrown into chaos."
Marty Supreme is a 2025 American sports comedy-drama film produced and directed by Josh Safdie, who co-wrote it with Ronald Bronstein. it is loosely inspired by American table tennis player Marty Reisman. Starring and co-produced by Timothée Chalamet, the film also features Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A'zion, Kevin O'Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara and Fran Drescher in supporting roles. A few have pinned Chalamet to win the lead actor Oscar for his performance in this film, so I am incredibly excited to watch it. A summary of the film's plot reads: "Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness."
