star JoJo Siwa has revealed that she's "not a lesbian" after opening up about her sexuality on the show. The 21-year-old Dance Moms star previously identified as a lesbian before she entered the house, with her non-binary partner Kath Ebbs supporting her from the outside.
But over the past two weeks, the dancer-turned-singer has raised a few eyebrows over her close friendship with Love Island star Chris Hughes, 32. Over the past two weeks, the pair have been spotted holding hands and sharing cute moments together. As the show has gone on, their comraderie has got fans speculating that there is more to it than friendship.
Now, the professional dancer has given fans an insight into her sexual identity during a heart-to-heart with RuPaul's Drag Race winner Danny Beard. In a private conversation in the bathroom, JoJo admitted: "I feel so queer" as Danny replied: "I'm queer!"
She went on: "I've never - I think I've always told myself I'm a lesbian. I think being here, I've realised I am not a lesbian, I'm queer, and I think that's really cool.
"I'm switching letters! I've dropped the L and I've gone to the Q baby! That's what I love about sexuality." Danny cheered her on, shouting: "You are Q, honey. And you know that British people love a queue!"
It comes after the dancer opened up about her gender identity to Chris Hughes on the sofa. She explained: "You have female, you have male. I've met a lot of females, love them, don't feel like I'm them. [I've] met a lot of males, love them, definitely not them.
"[I've] met a lot of people in my life that are non-binary, and these beautiful, non-binary people are who I feel most like, and it's, I don't know, it's not something that I want to say about myself yet, but it's something that's confusing."
Despite their close bond sending tongues wagging online, former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse has jumped to their defence online. During an appearance on the ITV spin-off show Late and Live, Oti revealed that their closeness is typical in the dance world.
She told viewers: "Can I just say I don't mind their friendship. As a professional dancer, we are quite tactile people anyway so we don't mind touching.
"We don't mind touching and being really close because their friendship is actually showing other people's insecurities and thinking why are we not in that duo and it's just showing who they are."
She continued to express her belief that their friendship is genuine, adding: "I don't think that Chris is thinking opportunity with JoJo. I just think his intelligence level is more like JoJo and it's literally platonic."
