Summer should be a blissful time when the weather is warm and the sun is shining. But unfortunately, the peace and calm of a lovely summer day can often be interrupted by the constant buzzing of houseflies, and occasionally, mosquitoes.
Luckily, one popular YouTuber has now shared a simple homemade remedy that promises to send both pests fleeing from your home in minutes. Jennifer from , a channel with over 1.5 million subscribers, revealed a quick and natural trick that uses just three everyday ingredients.
"Flies and mosquitoes will flee from your house with this easy homemade recipe," she said.
"To begin, we will take a glass cup and add 350g of ground coffee. Then we will take a candle and remove the wick.
"We put the wick in the middle of the glass with the coffee, cut the excess wick with scissors and immediately add 10 units of cloves.
"Finally, we light the wick until it starts to smoke and then place it in the living room or any other place in your house where you know that flies and mosquitoes are around."
Jennifer explained that the smell of the coffee smoke, combined with the strong scent of cloves, is enough to drive away most flying pests.

"The smell of coffee will scare these insects out of your house in no time," she added.
Experts say flies and mosquitoes are not just annoying, they can also pose health risks.
Pest control specialists at Pestline said houseflies can carry bacteria and cause food poisoning or even respiratory infections.
They recommend a mix of prevention, natural repellents and traps to help keep your home pest-free.
Some of the best natural deterrents include sprays made from citronella, vodka, anise oil, or mouthwash.
Experts also say essential oils like eucalyptus, lavender, and lemongrass can be effective. However, they advise using the oils with caution around pets or in unventilated rooms.
Herbs such as basil, peppermint, and rosemary can also be planted in pots or gardens to keep flies away.
Burning citronella candles or placing fans near food also helps to disrupt flying pests.
For those who want to go a step further, Pestline recommends traps made from sugar water or even a mixture of milk, pepper, and sugar to lure and drown the insects.
The key to long-term success, according to experts, is to keep food sealed, rubbish bags tied, and surfaces clean, especially after outdoor meals or barbecues.
