GB News under fire as viewers rage over 'scaremongering' weather alert

GB News sparked an uproar among viewers after Senior Meteorologist Jim Dale revealed thunderstorms were set to hit England and Wales.

On Friday, the programme returned to screens with broadcasters Miriam Cates and Ellie Costello reporting on the news and current affairs.

During their morning show, the duo welcomed Jim who provided insight into the dramatic seasonal change and detailed how much of it was down to climate change.

The meteorologist claimed: "They're not here yet, we've got a pinprick over Belgium, that little shower.

"I think to begin with central southern England. I think the mainframe is going to be this afternoon into Wales and south-west England. That's where I think these severe thunderstorms could well occur."

Jim continued: "We're talking hail, we're talking gusty winds, we're talking downpours that could put flash floods into the situations.

"We've had a large part of Europe underwater, not just underwater we're talking several feet underwater. This is climate change.

"This is what going on, not just in Europe but also in Nigeria, North Carolina and in the United States ... the world's warming up."

Despite the warning, viewers took the comments with backlash including @janekin24 who posted: "We always had storms. Our climate has not changed and our summer has been sh*t."

An angered @angelavarndall claimed: "There he is fear monger! Why he's allowed on your station I can't fathom."

@SandyofSuffolk echoed: "Jim has no qualifications in meteorology. What he does have is a scaremongering nature."

As @Dave47957187311 hit back: "Many would call it a change in the seasons"

@rokerite97 commented: "Who'd have though the weather would start to worsen towards the end of September? Honestly dunno how they predict it. It's like they must own a calendar or something."
