correspondent Andy Mac shared a "breaking news" announcement after it was confirmed former US President 82 has been diagnosed with "aggressive" prostate cancer. Addressing viewers on Sunday the broadcaster began, "We're back in here live from Fox News. We want to bring a breaking news story as former president Joe Biden announcing on social media that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer."

He continued to read out the official statement, which said: "Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone."

It continued, "While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management."

Biden and his family "are reviewing treatment options with his physicians," the statement said.

Andy commented: "This is big news and after just leaving office several months ago. This is major breaking news," as he moved to a live shot of the White House in Washington DC.

The correspondent continued: "As we have chronicled the last four years for President Joe Biden very closely and also the last election in which he did drop out and his Vice President Kamala Harris jumped into the race with 100 days to go with President Trump winning that election in a mandate style with voters casting their ballot.

"This is information the world is learning in real time of what's to come with this. We have not seen him in the public lense a lot in the last several months. So obviously staying out of the spotlight.

"We have not seen him speak or support other different candidates in the race for mid-terms in 2026."

The news comes days after a spokesperson for Biden said the former president was recently evaluated for a "small nodule" discovered on his prostate.

Concerns about his health and age dogged Biden, the nation's oldest sitting president, throughout his time in office and came into sharper focus following his halting debate performance against Donald Trump last June.
