Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, formally known as Prince Andrew, is set for a life change bigger than ever before within the coming weeks and months. On Thursday, Buckingham Palace announced that not only was King Charles removing "the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew", but he was also evicting him from his 30-room Royal Lodge home on the Windsor estate.
Instead, the prince will move to a private property on the monarch's Sandringham estate, where he can live out his life away from the royal world. The decision has been made as a result of Andrew's scandals surrounding his previous association with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, despite the fact the former prince has always denied any accusations against him.
While many believe things could be worse for the King's brother in regard to his new housing situation, one former courtier said life will be "bleak" for Andrew.
As reported by The Telegraph, a source who has spent time at Sandringham also said the former prince will be "lonely".
They said: "It's going to be a lonely life for him. It's a working farm, so there are always people around - but they are staff, and he's not someone who has a track record of being friendly with servants.
"I wouldn't want to live there the whole time. It's remote, there is the wind whipping in from The Wash, it's cold and he will be pretty much stuck there.
"It does have a certain beauty, but life will be bleak for him."
It is also not known whether Andrew will have certain privileges that royal life afforded him before, such as a cleaner and a cook.
A moving date has not yet been confirmed for when Andrew will vacate Royal Lodge in Windsor.
He has lived there for over two decades, with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson having also stayed there since 2008.
However, it is believed she will not be moving to Sandringham with Andrew, and will instead make her own housing arrangements.
