Mumbai: Mumbai Police has provided security cover for comedian Kapil Sharma and his family following two firing incidents within a month at his café in Canada and threats from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang.
Days after Kap’s Café was opened at Surrey, in Canada’s westernmost province of British Columbia, last month, gunmen fired at the café in the early hours of July 10 when several staff members were inside. At least 10 bullet marks were found on the café’s windows, and one of the glass panes was shattered. Luckily, no one was injured.
There was another firing incident targeting the café on August 7, necessitating Mumbai Police to step up security for the comedian and his family members as a precautionary measure.
Relevant security agencies are closely monitoring the matter.
After last month’s attack on Kap’s Cafe, police had visited the building where Kapil resides, in Mumbai’s Oshiwara area. The purpose of the visit was to confirm the address of Kapil’s residence, PTI had reported.
