The Toyota Mini Fortuner will be based on an all-new platform, which will help it support different body styles and powertrains. This platform could be different from the TNGA platform that powers the Innova Highcross. While the Toyota Fortuner is priced above Rs 30 lakh, the Mini Fortuner is likely to be offered at a relatively lower price. Production of this new Mini Fortuner is expected to begin by the end of November 2024.

Will Toyota get competition?

There is no competition for the Toyota Fortuner in the full-size SUV segment at the moment. The prices of the Toyota Fortuner have increased since Ford's departure in 2020, which has led to a decline in its sales. In January 2023, 3,698 units of this vehicle were sold, while in September 2024, only 2,473 units were sold.

What will the Mini Fortuner be like?

No official information has been given about the powertrain of the Mini Fortuner yet. But this new SUV can come with the options of pure petrol and strong hybrid. Apart from this, a fully electric variant can also be seen in it. The petrol-hybrid combination of the Mini Fortuner can be similar to the engine installed in the Innova Highcross. The Innova is equipped with a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine with a strong hybrid system, which provides excellent performance.

Mahindra Scorpio's rival

In competition with Mahindra Scorpio, Mini Fortuner can enter the market with better ground clearance and attractive looks. It can also be introduced as an all-new SUV FJ Cruiser. This car can be manufactured at Toyota's new Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant in Maharashtra. Production of this vehicle in India can start in early 2027. In this way, Toyota Mini Fortuner is set to compete with Mahindra Thar Rocks and Scorpio in the coming time. Its launch will further increase competition in the Indian market, giving customers even better options. If you are fond of SUVs, then waiting for this new Mini Fortuner can be beneficial for you.
