Chennai: With continuous rains affecting the city and more expected, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his appreciation for frontline workers by dining with them as a gesture of gratitude for their dedicated service during and after the recent monsoon showers.

After visiting various relief sites and medical camps set up as precautionary measures, CM Stalin joined frontline workers for a meal at Thiruvalluvar Wedding Hall. The menu included biryani, Chicken 65, and fish fry, providing a warm and communal environment for the workers to share with the chief minister. Stalin thanked them for their tireless efforts in aiding the community and assured the public that the Tamil Nadu government is prepared to handle any further weather challenges.

Responding to criticisms from Opposition leader Edappadi K. Palanisamy regarding water stagnation in areas such as Royapuram, RK Nagar, and Velachery, CM Stalin dismissed the comments, saying, "He is only trying to politicise. People know what work was done. I don’t need to reply to him. I’m not worried about negative comments. People are happy and they have spoken about it." He added that water levels have receded significantly across the city and promised that any remaining problem areas would be promptly addressed.

The Chief Minister praised the frontline workers and Corporation officials for their swift actions in restoring the city and emphasized the importance of their role during challenging times. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued a ‘red alert’ for Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, and Tirunelveli districts, as well as an ‘orange alert’ for Ramanathapuram on Thursday, October 17.
