Former US President Donald Trump has announced that he will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming visit to the United States next week.

During a campaign event in Flint, Michigan, Trump praised Modi, describing him as "fantastic" while addressing trade relations with India. Trump remarked that while many global leaders are "fantastic," he sees India as a "tough" competitor in trade.

“He’s fantastic. I mean, fantastic, man. A lot of these leaders are fantastic,” Trump told his supporters. He added that many world leaders are at the top of their game, and countries like India and Brazil are "very tough" when it comes to trade.

Although Trump did not offer specific details about the meeting, he highlighted the importance of engaging with world leaders like Modi.

Prime Minister Modi is set to visit the US to participate in the Quad leaders' summit, which includes Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, hosted by US President Joe Biden. Modi will also attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York and interact with the Indian-American community during his visit.

Trump and Modi were known for their close rapport during Trump’s presidency. In 2020, Modi organized a large rally in India to welcome Trump, gathering over 125,000 people at the world’s largest cricket stadium.
