Washington: Amid violent clashes between Pakistan and Afghan Taliban, US President Donald Trump has made a big statement. The US President claimed that ending the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict is easy and he can stop the conflict between the two neighbours without any difficulty. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Friday (local time), Trump said that I have to run America but I like to end wars. He claimed that by stopping many wars till now, he has saved millions of lives.

Stopping Pakistan-Taliban war is easy: Trump

Trump's latest remarks came shortly after Pakistan launched airstrikes on Afghanistan late Friday evening. He spoke about recent tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, asserting that it would be "very easy" for him to end the conflict. Trump said he always supports diplomatic solutions to regional disputes.

India-Pakistan conflict remembered

The US President reiterated his previous claims of helping prevent the India-Pakistan conflict. Trump said Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif thanked him for preventing a war that could have claimed millions of lives.

Earlier, late Friday evening, Pakistan carried out airstrikes at several locations in Afghanistan's Paktika province. These latest attacks came just hours after both sides agreed to extend a 48-hour ceasefire until the Doha talks conclude. Afghan media outlets reported that eight cricketers, who were returning home after playing a match, were killed in the latest atack. Security sources said at least 17 people were killed in the airstrikes in Paktika province.

Doha meeting will be a quest for peace

Following days of violent clashes, the two sides agreed to a ceasefire on Wednesday evening. The two sides are meeting for diplomatic talks in Doha. Afghan sources said a Pakistani delegation has arrived in Doha for the talks, including Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, the National Security Advisor (NSA), and ISI Chief Asim Malik.
